Partners of Minnesota Jump$tart Coalition fill a variety of roles in the organization but all of the partners are concerned about improving the financial literacy of Minnesota youth. Although we are identifying partners based on their area of interest within financial literacy, we do not have different categories of partners. We do want to recognize that different partners have different needs and we would like to meet the needs of as many partners as possible. Our partners come from: Education Educators who teach financial literacy programs, both in the traditional K-12 system and in other contexts, are instrumental to our mission. Educators join Minnesota Jump$tart Coalition to: Learn what other educators are doing Find resource materials they can use to teach financial literacy Find resource people who will supplement and reinforce their teaching Meet curriculum development sources to influence curriculum development Parents Parents who are interested in financial literacy join Minnesota Jump$tart Coalition to: Learn about the need for financial literacy Identify resources to help them educate their children Find opportunities to improve the financial literacy of Minnesota youth Not-for-Profit Organizations Not-for-profit organizations that support financial literacy might coordinate resource people that visit classrooms, develop resource materials to help train or increase awareness of the need for increased financial literacy. Not-for-profit organizations could gain the following from Minnesota Jump$tart Coalition: Find educators who want resource people to supplement their teaching Link to educators and others who might use their resource materials Locate experts who can help them develop and use resource materials Increase awareness of the need for increased financial literacy Financial Institutions Financial institutions and industry associations often are concerned about helping people become more financially literate both to give back to their communities and to increase the effective use of their services. Financial institutions might seek out Minnesota Jump$tart Coalition to help: Find educators who want resource people to supplement their teaching Support development of resource materials by educators and not-for-profit organizations Create their own resource materials to increase financial literacy Locate experts who can help them develop and use resource materials Increase awareness of the need for increased financial literacy Government/Policy Makers Government officials and policy makers can join Minnesota Jump$tart Coalition to meet the following needs: Understand the issues of financial literacy Locate like-minded citizens who want to improve financial literacy Increase awareness of the need for increased financial literacy Identify resources to improve the situation
